At the age of 24, Hamza Vayani provides a strong voice for young people in local and national government on diversity, racism and equality.
He is youth lead on Communities and Local Government advisory body the Commission for Integration and Cohesion, which published a report to government earlier this year, and also scrutinises the impact on equality of local youth policy in Leicester.
His work in the area began more modestly, however, with the creation of Youth Voice - a youth-led project he founded aged 16, and still runs.
"At the time it was just me and a group of friends who wanted to do things for the community," he says. "It was a hobby and we wanted to do something positive.
