
After landing its third outstanding Ofsted rating in a row, you might forgive Prince Rock for giving itself a big pat on the back. But when head teacher Simon Spry met with the school's governors for the first time after learning the result, there was little time for self-congratulation.
Instead, the governors wanted answers on why year 4 boys were behind the girls on writing. "They didn't go 'oh well done' - it was 'okay, brilliant on Ofsted, but why are these boys lagging behind?'," recalls Spry.
But he wouldn't have it any other way. "They are very supportive, but equally they've become very good at asking difficult questions. I do like that level of scrutiny. There are times when you wish it would go away, but that's a momentary thought.
