Award recognises work with Muslims

Youth Work
A youth engagement worker from Islington, north London, has won a national award for her work with young Muslims in the borough.

Noori Bibi, project manager of Young Muslim Voices, was awarded the social justice campaigner prize at the Sheila McKechnie Awards at the end of September.

The empowerment and engagement group provides an opportunity for young Muslims, women and refugees to make their voices heard and challenge negative perceptions.

Bibi said: "Winning the award means that I will also be receiving coaching and support around developing my campaign skills, which in turn will hopefully benefit many young people in Islington."
