Liam Byrne told delegates at the launch of the Audit Commission report Neighbourhood crime and antisocial behaviour (YPN, 17-23 May, p5) that he has asked about 30,000 people in his constituency to meet him to discuss the issue.
He said most people blame antisocial behaviour on a lack of things for young people to do, adding that the Government's respect agenda will "step up a gear" in the next few months.
"What has to happen, and what will be absolutely critical, is making sure that the respect agenda and neighbourhood policing are bridged by a new way of working in crime and disorder reduction partnerships," said Byrne.
