Antisocial Behaviour: St Helens to set up own response team

1 min read

The new rapid response team will consist of 10 part-time youth workers and a part-time project co-ordinator. The team will target flashpoint areas around the borough on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

It will work with police, the community safety team, residents' associations and local council members to identify and prioritise groups of young people as well as individuals considered likely to cause problems.

Debbie Lyons, acting head of youth services for St Helens Council, said: "It's not about moving them off the streets there and then, but introducing them to the youth service.

"We're very positive about this project because it allows us to contact young people who can benefit from what we have to offer."
