"This is the first conference I've been to in the 20 years I've worked in youth justice that focuses on young people as victims of crime," says Peter Dunn, head of research and development at Victim Support.
The conference Dunn was referring to was the Conservative Party's Action On Crime summit, which aimed to highlight the plight of young victims of crime and explore how best to help them.
Shadow youth minister Charles Hendry organised the event. "I was fed up with people always talking about young people as offenders, not as victims of crime," he explains.
And shadow home affairs minister Cheryl Gillan adds: "Young victims are one of the forgotten areas of youth crime and this is something a Conservative government would tackle."
