Youth rights project launches

A three-year programme to make young people more aware of their legal rights has launched.

The £1.2m Make Our Rights Reality (MORR) project, being led by Youth Access, will aim to educate young people aged between 15 and 25 about their rights and responsibilities and how to tackle everyday problems.

It will also support young people to work collectively in their communities to address social injustice, and a national campaign network of young people speaking up for their rights will be created.

The project will be delivered by three organisations, No Limits in Southampton and Hampshire, MAP in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, and 42nd Street in Manchester and Liverpool.

It is hoped around 1,800 young people will be engaged in the locations over the next three years, and a further 5,000 will get involved online.

James Kenrick, head of policy and development at Youth Access, said: "We hope this will be the start of a long-term social movement to connect young people with their rights and responsibilities as a vital part of their active engagement in civic society.
