Youth inquiry to explore racism and religious discrimination

An inquiry into racism and religious discrimination faced by young people has been launched by the British Youth Council's (BYC) youth select committee. ??

The committee, made up of 11 young people aged between 13 and 18, will explore issues around the awareness and prevention of racism and religious discrimination.?

The inquiry will also look at issues the topic presents in education and services for young people under the age of 25. ??

??Working together to combat racism and religious discrimination, particularly against people who are Muslim and Jewish, was chosen as a national campaigning issue by BYC’s UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) in November last year. ?

Bronagh Hughes, the 17-year-old chair of the youth select committee, said racism and religious discrimination are “extremely important issues”.
