Relate York & Harrogate’s service will offer therapeutic counselling for up to 40 young people aged 11 to 25 each year.
"We know that a large number of young people witness or experience domestic violence and abuse," said Katherine Blaker, children and young people’s partnership manager at the relationships charity.
"They want and need to talk about it and currently they can’t. Our service will let them do that and help them develop coping strategies they can use going forward in their lives."
The service is currently taking referrals ahead of starting its work and will offer counselling at the charity’s centres in York, Harrogate and Selby.
