
Her assertion comes amid varying predictions of what the future for youth justice holds after the government made a dramatic U-turn on its plans to abolish the board in the face of predicted opposition in the House of Lords.
Frances Done, chair of the YJB, told CYP Now that "uncertainty" over the future had made the last 12 months "difficult" for both staff and the youth justice system, but it will be "business as usual" for the organisation.
The challenge the YJB now faces, she said, is to continue to sustain the progress made in recent years in reducing offending and reoffending rates at a time of economic difficulty.
