Susannah Hancock is to undertake an independent review into the placement of girls in the children and young people’s secure estate.
Hancock is a trustee of the Youth Justice Board and has worked in the youth justice sector - YJB

Hancock, chief executive of the National Fire Chiefs Council and a board member of the Youth Justice Board (YJB), has been commissioned by youth justice minister Sir Nic Dakin to undertake the review starting immediately.

The review will consider current placement options and care for girls in the youth estate and report back in three months.

Currently, the Youth Custody Service places girls in different settings across the youth custody estate, including secure children’s homes, the new secure school, Oakhill Secure Training Centre and Wetherby Young Offender Institution (YOI).
