
The organisation has announced that despite the scheduled publication of a new secure estate strategy next month, central government is keen to form a longer-term vision.
In a message to youth offending teams, YJB chief executive John Drew said next month’s strategy will be "limited to 2015" because it represents both the lifetime of the current parliament and spending review period.
"However, our [youth justice] minister, Crispin Blunt, is keen that a longer-term plan for the secure estate should be developed, setting out a more strategic view of what the government is aiming to achieve over time," Drew said.
