Stephen Rimmer, director of prevention in the office for security and counter-terrorism at the Home Office, said that the initiatives would tackle the issue of young people turning to extremism.
The final 11 programmes selected to share the £7m of Home Office funding put forward for the projects were selected by ministers on Monday.
The projects include identifying young people at risk of turning to radical extremism and referring them to other agencies, and addressing gang-related links with violent extremism.
The work will be carried out both in the community and in the secure estate.
Rimmer said the issue of violent extremism was a relatively new one, and more evidence about what works was needed.
