Since the opening of four "youth hubs" in May last year a total of 8,625 young people have attended sessions compared with 5,347 the year before.
The four clubs were opened after a consultation showed that young people wanted better provision open at more convenient times. Consultation responses also revealed that young people were willing to travel to access provision.
Outreach work was also reorganised into four district teams based around the four clubs.
Councillor Ann McLachlan, Wirral’s cabinet member for children’s services, said: "This indicates that the reconfiguration of the youth service and the introduction of the youth hubs was the right thing for us to do and is a real success story."
