Welsh Assembly grants 2m for gyspy and traveller sites to tackle child mortality

The Welsh Assembly is to allocate more than 2m to help improve basic living conditions at five gypsy and traveller sites in a move that will help address the high child mortality rates among the communities.

The five sites to receive the grant funding are:

The new grants will be used to modernise existing facilities provided on sites by local authorities and for the provision of new facilities on sites where needed.

Social Justice Minister Carl Sargeant said: "This money will improve the quality of life for Gypsy Traveller communities. Providing better basic services for gypsy travellers is an important part of the Assembly government's drive to improve equality among communities across Wales."
