The report from Sport England finds that whilst children’s activity levels have recovered to  pre-pandemic levels, only 47 per cent of children are active for the 60 minutes per day, recommended by the Chief Medical Officer.

Among the less active children, 30 per cent are reported as being active for less than 30 minutes per day.

The report’s definition of active includes walking, cycling, sporting and fitness activities, and informal active play, of at least a moderate intensity.

It also finds that boys are 50 per cent more likely to be active than girls of the same age, and that children from ethnic minority backgrounds were less likely to be active than their white peers.
