Union Unite last month said changes to legal funding had led to a poorer quality of legal advice for young people. Earlier this week it demonstrated outside the offices of the Legal Services Commission to highlight the increasing demand for civil legal advice.
Rachael Maskell, national officer for the community and non-profit sector, welcomed the review, which was announced last week.
But she said: "We would want the review to go further and investigate the impact on service users and those that work in the advice sector. We would like a proportion of the welcomed £15m earmarked by Alistair Darling in his report for debt advice channelled into this area."
