The funding will go to the Bradford Council’s troubled families programme, which helps families with generational problems back into work. It will offer support families to gain skills and get back into work.
The funding, which is part of a £9.4m fund allocated to the Leeds City Region, will also go towards the council’s targeted early help projects from January 2017.
This includes offering early intervention services to prevent anti-social behaviour and crime, and support children with poor school attendance or at risk of exclusion. This work will mostly be delivered by voluntary sector orginisations.
Val Slater, the council’s deputy leader and portfolio holder for health and wellbeing, said: "This is fantastic news for the district. Providing early help is a vital way in which we can support struggling families in turning their lives around.
“It means we can help families overcome some of the barriers they may face in gaining and sustaining employment so they can benefit themselves and make a positive contribution to the community."
