Star was murdered by her mother’s partner Savannah Brockhill, in Bradford, in September 2020. Her mother was convicted of causing or allowing her death.
Giving evidence to the Commons education select committee, Hudson highlighted that Star’s family was visited by an agency social worker, employed by Bradford Council, in the months before her death, who left the council with a weeks' notice before completing an assessment.
Star’s case was closed without any further visits by social workers, despite concerns raised by the toddler’s grandparents, due to pressure on managers to reallocate the agency worker’s caseload.
