Caroline Little, joint chair of the Association of Lawyers for Children'said she is getting notices of closures most days. She said some areasin London are suffering from a shortage of family lawyers.
Three large firms are closing in Walthamstow. She has also heard ofclosures in the Brighton area, where there is already a shortage.
She said: "I can speak from personal experience, as my firm closed. Inthe whole of west London, and other London areas, there are difficultieswith the provision of services."
The association plans to carry out a comprehensive survey to establishthe extent of the situation. It fears that if the Government's legal aidreforms go ahead, solicitors will lose costs on family law cases. Thesereforms would restructure the way family lawyers are paid.
