Skills academy to train management

1 min read Social Care
The government has approved the formation of a national social care skills academy to improve management training in the sector.

It is now in the development stage and joins a network of 15 other academies in England. The focus of the social care academy will be on improving management techniques and is aimed at not only existing managers but also core staff and new recruits.

It is hoped that 58,000 social care workers will be supported but the courses are only available to those working with young people aged between 14 and 19 and those in adult care. The academy will share £30m of government money with three other academies covering enterprise, IT and power, a sum that will be matched by employers.
