
The Department for Education had previously committed to invest until July 2020, and yesterday said the fund would be guaranteed until March 2021.
The news has led to calls for a long-term commitment, following on from the £130m already provided by government since 2015, which has helped more than 44,000 adoptive families across England.
Sue Armstrong Brown, chief executive of charity Adoption UK, said: "The extension of this vital lifeline is fantastic news and will be a relief to thousands of adoptive families.
"But the government's next move has to be a longer-term commitment. We would like to see the fund's future secured until 2030.
