
The Inclusion in Practice project, run by the government’s Expert Advisory Group on Inclusion, wants to hear about excellent practice that schools and trusts are already implementing ahead of wider SEND reform.
It will ensure that the group’s recommendations to the Department for Education are rooted in hard evidence about what works in practice, said the DfE.
Examples will include schools and trusts which have expanded mainstream schools with resource and SEN units, provided access to mainstream lessons supported by specialist learning assistants and provided support and specialist equipment to play sports, added the department.
Speaking on the topic at the Association of School and College Leaders Conference on 14 March, Phillipson explained that SEND education attainment would play a key role in success of the government’s Plan for Change.
