School reopening row deepens as Year 10 and 12 pupils return

Students in Years 10 and 12 in England are being offered face-to-face contact with teachers for the first time since schools closed on 24 March.

However, government guidelines state just a quarter of each year group should be allowed on site at any one time - the equivalent of around five per cent of all secondary school pupils, according to the children’s commissioner for England Anne Longfield.

Research by the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) found that at least 38 per cent of school leaders will not be reopening today.
