The Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Referrals and Outcomes for Adolescents and Children with Social Workers (COACHES) study will run over four years and aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing outcomes for children and young people who have experience with social care.

The project is a collaboration between the University of Cambridge, Kingston University, King’s College London, the National Children’s Bureau (NCB), the British Association of Social Workers, and the Care Leaver’s Association.

COACHES will examine data from over 70,000 young people across two NHS Trusts covering south London, and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

It will also examine the experiences of young people and parents with direct experience of mental health interventions within the social care system.
