
A survey by teaching union NASUWT found that one in five of its members are aware of pupils using cannabis in school. Just under three in five says pupils are using the drug outside of school.
The survey also found one in 20 teachers are warning that other drugs, such as ketamine and cocaine, are being used in school. One in six say these are being used by children off school premises.
One in 14 say pupils are using alcohol in school. This rises to more than half away from school.
They are also concerned about pupils’ use of energy drinks and gambling apps. Seven in ten teachers warn that energy drinks are being consumed within school and one in 16 are concerned that gambling website and apps are being looked at on school grounds.
