Psychiatrists launch campaign for mental health equality

Health
The Royal College of Psychiatrists has called for action to end inequalities faced by people with mental health problems.

The college has launched a Fair Deal manifesto for people with mental health problems and learning disabilities as part of a three-year campaign to address the biggest inequalities.

The manifesto says that, despite recent investment, mental health services still lag behind those in physical health. It claims there is limited access to services and widespread discrimination.

The college's campaign will include partnerships with organisations such as the mental health charity Young Minds.

"We want to work closely with anyone who shares our vision," said the college's President Elect, Professor Dinesh Bhugra.
