Proposals to open up family courts rubberstamped

Controversial moves to open up family courts by allowing greater media reporting of proceedings have been rubberstamped.

As part of the pre-election "wash-up", government officials met with the opposition parties to settle on which parts of the Children, Schools and Families Bill would be passed into law in the current Parliament.

Provisions that remain include opening up family courts, giving school governing bodies greater powers and strengthening the evaluation process of serious case reviews.
