The commissioner’s website shows Sunak is being investigated in relation to paragraph six of the updated code of conduct for MPs, which states they “must always be open and frank in declaring any relevant interest in any proceeding of the house or its committees”.

Commissioner Daniel Greenberg opened the investigation last Thursday (13 April), the website shows.

It comes weeks after MPs raised concerns over shares held by Sunak’s wife Akshata Murty in a childminder agency which may benefit from a new government policy.

The policy, announced by Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt in his latest Budget, would see prospective childminders offered a £600 bonus, increasing to £1,200 bonus for those signing on with one of six agencies, including Koru Kids that Murty holds shares in.
