The call by Luke Lancaster, junior chief executive of charity Young Pioneers, which provides training and support to help vulnerable young people lead social change, comes after an independent candidate in Kent pledged to create a youth police commissioner role if elected.
Ann Barnes, who is standing for the commissioner role in Kent said her idea of creating a youth commissioner role was inspired by Siobhan Benita, an independent candidate in the Mayor of London elections, who pledged to create a youth mayor of London.
Lancaster said more candidates should think about creating youth police commissioner roles.
