Private nursery group Reach for the Stars Ltd informed Cheshire East Council at the end of October that they would be closing both nurseries on the sites of Pebble Brook Primary School and Underwood West Academy, based in Crewe, and ceasing to trade on 4 November.

Following a consultation to extend the age range at Pebble Brook from four- to 11 years to two-to- 11, effective from 27 February, a decision is expected to be reached today (16 January) by the council’s children and families committee.

If approved, this would be a temporary change for up to two years, implemented either next month or in March, where the school would provide nursery classes for up to 111 children impacted by the closures.
