Proposed legislation on the use of knives and other bladed weapons could include a ban on “machetes and other knives designed to look menacing and with no practical use”.

A seven-week consultation, launched today (18 April), also seeks views on increasing the maximum penalty for selling bladed articles to under 18s from six months to two years.
