Seasons for Growth: Grief Education is an early intervention programme that helps children to cope with significant change or loss such as death, illness or relocation.
It helps them to understand their emotions and how they are going to cope, and encourages them to express their thoughts and feelings.
Elaine Tabony, a school-nurse team leader in Hillingdon Community Health, said: "The programme supports children and helps them to manage change as well as helping them to develop better support networks. It doesn’t provide counselling or therapy.
"Reasons children might be referred to this are if they are showing signs of aggression or frustration, withdrawal from others, poor school attendance or poor quality of class work."
