The figure is based on its analysis that shows that 120,710 children in England are homeless and living in temporary accommodation.

The charity warns this figure will grow as the “cost-of-living crisis continues to deepen the housing emergency”.

Further research by charity, based on a survey of 800 families with 1,600 children living in temporary accommodations, found that more than a third of children are forced to share a bed.

In addition, just under half of children are arriving at schools “tired, late or hungry” due to their families’ housing situation.

Meanwhile, six in 10 children lack space to play and more than a quarter say their children are “often unhappy or depressed” in temporary accommodation.
