Ofsted to retain inadequate ratings and no-notice inspections for early years providers

1 min read Early Years Inspections
The current ratings of "satisfactory" and "inadequate" will remain for early years settings along with no-notice inspections, Ofsted has revealed.

The inspectorate had consulted with providers and parents about the prospect of changing the current "satisfactory" judgment to "requires improvement" and the "inadequate" judgment to "requires significant improvement and/or enforcement".

But in a report today Ofsted said that following feedback, the inspection framework will remain the same, stating: "In light of comments received, we intend to retain the current judgments of ‘satisfactory' and ‘inadequate' for the time being. We intend to consider this issue further at a later stage."

Ofsted will also continue to give no notice before an inspection of an early years setting, which was supported by the majority of parents and providers.
