Focused visits by Ofsted inspectors to council children’s services will resume in January but they will not result in a graded judgement.

Social care common inspection framework assurance visits have resumed, and will continue until the end of March. Routine inspections of local authority children’s services and other social care providers are expected to start at the beginning of April.

Councils currently rated as “inadequate”, as well as those where concerns are raised, will be prioritised.

January also sees the resumption of joint inspection of SEND provision, which are carried out with Care Quality Commission inspectors. However, these will not result in a published letter or grade.
