The centre’s rating has been downgraded to ‘inadequate’ from ‘requires improvement to be good’ following a five-day inspection in October 2024 of the Milton Keynes setting, which can hold up to 80 children aged between 12 and 19.

A failure to meet children’s known mental health needs in a timely manner, including one who was ‘at the onset of a mental health crisis’, are among a range of issues highlighted in the report by Ofsted, the Care Quality Commission and HM Inspector of Prisons.  published on Thursday (5 Dec).

The inspection also found a dirty healthcare treatment room at the centre, despite the issue of infection prevention and control being raised at the last probe, in 2023. The centre was previously rated 'inadequate' in 2021.
