Lord Bach announced a legal aid reform programme, which includes a new telephone service for those with family law problems, while an existing service will extend its opening hours.
Bach said the economic downturn is having an "immediate impact" on advice services He said: "Demand is increasing across the piece and so the Community Legal Advice helpline will open on Saturday morning and from July the opening hours will be extended.
"At the same time the new CLA Family telephone service will go live, helping 25,000 a year with family law problems."
CLA is a free and confidential advice service paid for by legal aid.
