In a new report, the Sutton Trust has called for the next government to prioritise policies that will improve opportunities for young people and boost social mobility.

It urges the party elected on 4 July to produce a national strategy for children’s centres and Family Hubs.

This “is needed to reverse over a decade of cuts to family support services, and the government should commit to rolling out at least 350 new facilities, with a focus on the most deprived areas,” states the report.

It also calls for equal access to funded early education.

Offering at least 20 hours of provision per week at three and four should be a priority, followed by two-year-olds, say researchers.
