
The move follows criticism from the Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP) about a lack of marketing activity by the government’s National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) to promote the benefits of taking on apprentices.
An NAS spokeswoman said: "As with all government agencies there has been a freeze on marketing and communications. We have had to go through a lengthy procedure through MPs, ministers and the Prime Minister to get any money spent in that area.
"We have gone through that process and have just found out that we have been given a budget for this."
The campaign is set to launch at the end of September and will include telephone and direct marketing aimed at employers.
