MPs urge Care Review to recommend increased support for adopted children and families

The all-party parliamentary group (APPG) for adoption and permanence has published its latest report that will feed into the government-commissioned review.

Launched by children’s minister Vicky Ford and chair of the review Josh MacAllister, Strengthening Families highlights the need for focus on adoption to shift from “family finding” to “family building”.

“While it is crucial that there is continued investment in recruiting adopters, ensuring children do not wait too long and making good matches, this must be seen as the start of the journey, not the end. Adopted children and their families need to be supported throughout their journey in order to thrive and flourish,” the report states.
