Labour MP Nigel Griffiths will read the Promotion of Food to Children Bill, which proposes a ban on advertising crisps, sweets and junk food before 9pm.
The bill is backed by Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation.
It also suggests restrictions on print advertising of junk food.
Griffiths said tougher restrictions on the way food is marketed to children was essential in the war against obesity.
A similar bill was put forward by Labour backbencher Baroness Thornton back in February, but it was not successful.
