Stress, depression and loneliness are among mental health challenges young people are continuing to face as the UK recovers from the health crisis, says the charity.

The children’s charity says these fears are prevalent among young people despite more positive announcements around the vaccine roll-out and the lifting of restrictions.

“The negative effects of the pandemic could last a lifetime if children and young people don't have the right support,” said Barnardo’s chief executive Javed Khan.

The charity has raised the concerns following a survey carried out in April this year, of more than 4,000 children and young people aged eight to 24, about their feelings before and during the pandemic.
