Of the 27 reviews evaluated during the period, 20 were given a "good" rating – equating to 74 per cent.
A further two, carried out by Haringey and Barking & Dagenham, were rated "outstanding". Five were rated adequate, while none received an inadequate rating.
Details of the most recent evaluations come after the government revealed in its response to Eileen Munro’s review of child protection earlier this month that it is keen to change the existing system.
The government wants a "systems review methodology" to be used by local safeguarding children boards when serious case reviews are undertaken but has given no timescale for when this should happen, stating that it is "important to plan the transition to new arrangements carefully".
