Loughton to review government's position on mosquito devices

1 min read Youth Work
Junior children's minister Tim Loughton has committed to review the government's position on mosquito devices after Kirklees Youth Forum successfully campaigned to ban them from the local authority's buildings.

In a letter to the youth forum Loughton congratulated the young people for their successful campaign and added that while Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg is examining how young people are portrayed by government, he would personally examine the use of mosquito devices.

In the letter he states: "I was delighted to read the article in the Children and Young People Now daily bulletin and am writing to offer my congratulations to members of the Kirklees Youth Forum who campaigned successfully for the main council to ban the use of the mosquito sonic device in its building.

"I am keen to hear and act on the views of young people and I do take concerns about mosquito devices very seriously. I shall be seeking an opportunity to discuss the use of mosquitos with other ministerial colleagues with a view to reviewing the government position."
