The south London local authority is working with education partners, youth and community groups, the police, support services, businesses and transport bodies to “help children and young people move on from the summer holidays into the new term”.
The support is based on one of the priorities of Jason Perry, executive mayor of Croydon, to “support children and young people to fulfil their potential, to thrive and to be kept safe”. It also builds on work by the council to improve safety in the area’s town centre.
Perry said: “Many children and young people need additional help to get back into routine following the long summer break. We will be reaching out to them offering information and guidance for a happy and safe start to the autumn.”
