Although the proposals are not yet party policy, the plans will feature in a forthcoming youth policy paper, due to be launched at the party's spring conference in March next year.
Linda Jack, chair of the Liberal Democrat youth policy working group, told CYP Now that the party is considering scrapping Asbos, as part of wider plans to promote positive images of young people and take a "more enlightened" approach to youth justice.
But a spokeswoman for the Home Office said there is no need to change the current system.
She said: "The Asbo is an important means of tackling antisocial behaviour. They are used by local agencies alongside other interventions such as acceptable behaviour contracts, antisocial behaviour injunctions and premises closure orders.
