- Clarity needed on children's homes data

In these times of heightened attention being given to children's homes, it is vital that information is full and accurate.

CYP Now reported Paul Burstow MP uncovering important information regarding the management of residential settings for children with complex needs registered with the Care Quality Commission (cypnow.co.uk, 5 November).

Given the sensitivity of any story for residential settings today, it is vital that it is made abundantly clear that these settings are not registered with Ofsted, and so are not those more usually taken as children's homes.

It is important that all children and young people have every safeguard. Ofsted is diligent - its evaluation of leadership and management is a determining factor for the outcome for a children's home registered with it. It checks all things to do with a registered manager.
