In the debate over extending post-care support to young people in residential homes aged over 18, we need to keep our focus on what matters - providing belonging for a group of young people through appropriate, sustainable accommodation options - and set aside emotive descriptions of perspective or people.
Martin Narey signals he is one of those who will assist (cyp now, 4 February). This is unsurprising given that, while at Barnardo's, he commissioned a report that included the recommendation for "the DfE to support flexible approaches to allow young people to stay on in placements to 21".
Clearly, the government is minded to "find ways to make it work". As Edward Timpson said in the recent parliamentary debate on the issue, there are no "insurmountable barriers".
