Voting 224 to 0, with most Conservative MPs appearing to abstain, the motion, tabled by shadow education secretary Kate Green, was passed yesterday during Opposition Debates (9 June).

Education catch-up
Last week, education recovery tsar Kevan Collins quit over the government’s proposals to commit £1.4bn to catch-up plans.
In an opening speech, Green said Labour “agrees with Sir Kevan’s assessment that the current half-hearted approach risks failing hundreds of thousands of young people”.
